Until Next Year, Christmas

What a relaxing Christmas we had  The past 2 Christmases has involved moving and traveling and only one of those was with a newborn.  Although we had a great Christmas, it was almost like we didn't know what to do with ourselves.

The morning was spent opening gifts and consuming red & green sprinkled donuts.  We made a ham, devilled eggs, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, and stuffing for a late lunch.  The rest of the day was spent watching movies and playing with toys.

Bits of Christmas

I can't believe Sunday is Christmas.  I don't want it to be here!  I love the holidays and they go by too fast.  I wish it could be here all year long because this is what I will miss....

I'll miss threatening my children with Santa.  Just mention the words Santa Claus and they turn into sweet angels.

I'll miss my house being decorated.  It always looks so bare afterwards.

I'll miss little reminders in the mailbox of how loved and blessed with are with our family and friends.

I'll miss the sweet smells of fresh baked cookies in the home.  It's the only time I don't feel guilty stuffing my face, and my kids', with sugary goodness.

As a kid, of course, Christmas was all about what presents I'd get.  But as I've gotten older, the season is about togetherness with those who matter most.  The holidays are an excuse to take the time to get together.  I love sharing memories and laughs with my family and friends.  They are what makes the holidays so magical and special.

December, Really?

Wow, so I have totally neglected the blog.  End of October and first half of November was extremely stressful for me.  I'm moving on from it, so I'd rather not talk about it, ha.  At least through that hard time I managed to lose 17 lbs!!  I am finally at the weight I was before I got prego with B.  Only took 3 years, geesh.  I've gained 2 lbs since the Mr has been home from TX, blech. Will have to get back on that eliptical routine soon!

Let's catch up.

Mr A came home from his army school a week before Thanksgiving so he was back just in time to smoke a turkey.  It turned out very good and I don't generally care for turkey.  We had our own family meal at lunch time and in the evening went to our friends' home.  Lots of delicious food and terrific company.  I dabbled in a little Black Friday shopping at midnight but man, standing in 1 long line was enough for me.  Later that day we purchased a new tree, 9 feet of pine awesomeness.  Mr A also decorated the outside with lights.

C has his tonsils and adenoids removed 30 Nov.  First surgery experience for me and it was on my child, way harder than if it were on me.  He did awesome though!  He was such a trooper!  He's still in his recovery phase for the next week.  He is going to be over the moon to be able to eat real food again.  Poor child has shed tears over the inability to eat chips and tacos.  Had a little scare the other night but it's pretty common and thankfully, has gotten better on it's own.  C doesn't snore like a 75 year old man any more and his voice, my how it has changed!  It's like it was 2 years ago, high pitched and so sweet sounding.  Little B is waiting on his referral to the ENT, so guess who will be next.  That one should be extremely interesting!

As for the Christmas holiday, we will be spending this year at home.  It will be our first real Christmas in our first owned home.  Time to start making family memories in it.  We will visit family in Jan when Mr A has time off of work.  Tomorrow we will be hosting our first ever annual Ugly Christmas Sweater party.  I am so ecstatic about it!  Of course, a post will follow that event.

When Life Hands You Trash Bags...

...turn them into ghosts!

I've been under the weather the past week and over the weekend while watching children's Halloween themed movies, I turned 2 trash bags into 4 ghosts for one of our trees.   Threw on a "Boo" glittered sign from Target's dollar section and voila!
