Don't Take Advice From Strangers

Last weekend my mom came to visit.  We like to do and explore new things when we have visitors.  Well, she heard from a stranger about this "fabulous" place called Patti's 1880s Settlement and that there were "fabulous" antique stores around that area.  So we looked it up online and it did look like an interesting place.  Saturday we all piled into the truck and made our 53 mile trip through Kentucky.

Needless to say, Patti's was not fabulous!  And there were only 2 antique stores (1 of which was closed) that were not fabulous.  And the town was country bumpkin small.  And Patti's restaurants and gift shops were overpriced.  And the "live animals" were in small cages, looking like they were on death row. And it was a major disappointment.  Therefore we learned the lesson, don't take advice from strangers.  Maybe this stranger was from the boonies and this town was the bees knees to her.  Maybe she was related to Patti and wanted to help boom Patti's economy.  Maybe she thought gift shops were antique stores.  Maybe....

Either way, we made the best of it like we always do.  I snapped a few pictures of the interesting areas (there weren't many).  We ended the trip by driving home via the Land Between the Lakes, where Jeremy would randomly go off onto sideroads in the woods weaving in and out giving my mom panic attacks (highlight of the day!).
