My mom (the kids' "Neena") came for her 3rd visit to TN (second one this year).  We love living so close! 

We had a wonderful time while she was here.  Friday we all went to the pool (well not the husband since he was working), did some shopping, and that evening Jer and I were able to go on a spontaneous date, which was much appreciated.  Saturday we did some more shopping, ate a mexican lunch, and headed to Beachaven's Jazz on the Lawn.  Only we didn't stay the whole evening for Jazz, it was way too hot.  Sunday was Mom's first trip to Nashville.  We went to the infamous country strip on Broadway and "snuck" into the Gaylord Opryland Hotel.  Needless to say, the weekend went by way too fast.  Always does when you're having fun!

Almost 2!

I can't believe this baby will be 2 in less than 2 months!  He is finally more vocal, you can see a list of his words on his website HERE, and can communicate with us in words rather than just grunts, ha.  We bought him a potty over a month ago.  Each time he has sat on it he's gone #1, I probably could potty train him now if I really wanted to but I think I'm just going to let him decide like I did with C.
Sometimes it's so crazy to think I have 2 kids.  They're such little stinkers, but I love them with all my heart and have no idea what I ever did before them!

Wilder Side

The photo pretty much describes our week trip to visit some of Jeremy's family.  Can we say (or as B would do, scream!) terrible twos approaching??

Dress for Less

It's no secret that I am a big fan of Target.  I go there 1-2 times a week.  And this is why, I stalk the clearance sections.  I rarely will buy anything for full price because I know how good their prices get once an item is put on clearance.  Last week I bought B 3 pairs of jeans for the fall & winter for $2 a piece (original price was $8 each)!  This week I snagged a 4 piece toddler bedding, set from $29.99 down to $14.99, for the day we set up B's toddler bed (which will be a while if I get my way).

I also found an outfit that had I purchased a month ago at full price would have set me back $50, instead both items were 75% off.  The cardigan was $24.99 but purchased for $6.24 and the dress the same.  When spending $12.50 it makes the outfit look so much cuter. 

 

 

I think I'll be wearing the top photo to church Sunday and then the bottom to the Blake Shelton concert that evening. :)

America the Beautiful

We had an awesome 4th of July weekend.  It couldn't have been any better.  We are so blessed as a family to have such great friends and to live in this beautiful country!

Sunday we celebrated riverside in Clarksville.  It was our first time and I'm sure it won't be our last.  Did you know that Clarksville is competing for the most patriotic city in America? I didn't until we were there and Rand McNally was there to check it out.  We'll find out later this month who the winning city is.

 

Monday was spent on Ft Campbell.  We found a nice spot on the parade field and got comfy, just hanging out til the festivities began.  C and I won a free cd from a local radio station by playing a dice rolling game (we make a good team) and we managed to snag some freebies from other sponsors.  There was a show done by a parachute team (jumping out of a helicopter), a 50 canon salute to the states, and a free concert followed by the 30 minute fireworks display. 

Red, White, and Yum!

Thought I'd bake something festive for the boys.  And cupcakes seem to be the holiday treat I give them on St Patty's Day and Valentine's Day, so to continue on with the tradition I baked some red velvet cupcakes with vanilla icing and sprinkles.  It made 2 dozen and since our family of four doesn't need all that sugar (and I need to lose some weight), I put the second batch (un-iced and un-sprinkled) in a tupperware for the freezer.  Next time we want some baked goods, I'll just pull them out and ice them.  Genius (haha)

 

 

Annual Carnival

4th of July weekend is kind of a big deal here.  Military Installations go above and beyond for their soldiers on Independence Day.  The carnival started a few days ago, there will be a free concert today, Clarksville will being having their fireworks tomorrow, and Ft Campbell will have their patriotic fireworks display Monday.  No wonder this is Jeremy's favorite holiday!
He had 24 hr duty yesterday so I met up with some friends and we took the kids to the carnival.  C was Mr No Fear.  I thought he did great last year on the rides, but this year he didn't think twice about hopping on them.  Poor B was too short to ride anything but he entertained himself as usual.  Great start to our family vacay time.
