Taking in Nature

The weather has been so bi polar for January.  We took advantage of it today, with a high of 54 degrees, by driving to Land Between the Lakes.  Mr A has been there quite a few times to fish, but this was the boys and my first visit.  What a beautiful place and I couldn't help but wonder how it must be in the other seasons.  If you aren't familiar with the area, it is a large national recreation area that sits between two lakes, Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley, in the states of Tennessee and Kentucky.  It is an open campsite, with organized camping grounds as well.  There is a plantetarium, 1800s settlement, bison & elk prairie, welcome centers, nature center, etc.

We started our adventure with a little lunch at a picnic area

Along our drive, we discovered bison

B was very good at pronouncing "buffalo" clearly and tired to lure them closer with his leaf.

The views were so peaceful.

Mr A felt right at home

We drove along the prairie and stumbled upon elk and more bison

On the way home we had to stop to fish.
